AN INVESTIGATION OF FACTORS INFLUENCING THE MISSION IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND IN NAKHON RATCHASIMA

Abstract
This research aimed to: 1) investigate the mission of Nakhon Ratchasima School for the Blind, 2) examine factors influencing the school’s mission, and 3) predict the significant predictors of the school’s mission. The sample comprised 247 participants, including administrators, teachers, staff, parents, alumni association members, and members of the Nakhon Ratchasima Blind Association, academic year 2024. The sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s table and selected through stratified random sampling based on ositions. The research instrument was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire with a content validity index ranging from 0.80 to 1.00. The reliability coefficient for the overall mission scale was 0.94. Reliability values for influencing factors were as follows: learning environment and support systems (0.84), assistive technology and facilities (0.83), teacher and student attitudes (0.92), teacher support (0.90), teaching methods (0.89), and external funding (0.87). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
Findings revealed that: 1) the school’s mission was rated at a high level across all dimensions, particularly in problem-solving skills development, use of technology in teaching, budget allocation, quality standards, and moral development; 2) all influencing factors were also rated at high levels, with the highest average being the learning environment and support systems, followed by assistive services, teaching methods, teacher support, external funding, and attitudes; and 3) three factors—learning environment and support systems (X1), external funding (X6), and teacher and student attitudes (X3)—significantly predicted the school’s mission at the .01 level. These predictors had a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.607 and accounted for 36.90% of the variance in the school’s mission.
