The Myth on Neoliberalism Discourse and The Ordo Manifesto of 1936

The recent criticisms of neoclassical economics in Thailand, particularly from the left wing, have been intense in the wake of the 1997 Tom Yam Kung Financial Crisis and the 2008 Subprime Mortgage Crisis in the US. However, these criticisms, whether in the form of using "neoliberalism" discourse or proposing a "welfare state," are misguided. This article will review the literature on this topic, including "A Brief History of Neoliberalism" and "The Ordo Manifesto of 1936," and argue that the debate between the left wing and the neoclassical economic school in Thailand reflects the missing proposal of "ordoliberalism." The article will also propose investigating the versatility of capitalism in different countries and its dynamism, as outlined in "Varieties of Capitalism," as a starting point to achieve equilibrium and better economic performance through the regulation of monopoly and reduction of social inequality
