มายาคติเรื่องวาทกรรมเศรษฐกิจเสรีนิยมใหม่ และแถลงการณ์สำนักไฟร์บวร์กเรื่องเศรษฐกิจเสรีนิยมที่มีการกำกับแห่งปี ค.ศ. 1936

การวิพากษ์วิจารณ์เศรษฐศาสตร์นีโอคลาสสิคจากฝ่ายซ้ายในประเทศไทยเริ่มเป็นไปอย่างกว้างขวางนับแต่สถานการณ์วิกฤติเศรษฐกิจต้มยำกุ้งเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2540 และต่อมาเป็นวิกฤติสินเชื่อซับไพรม์ปี พ.ศ. 2550 ในสหรัฐอเมริกา อย่างไรก็ตามการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์นี้ไม่ว่าจะเป็นไปภายใต้วาทกรรม “เสรีนิยมใหม่” หรือข้อเสนอเรื่อง “รัฐสวัสดิการ” ต่างก็มีความคลาดเคลื่อน บทความนี้จะทบทวนวรรณกรรมในหัวข้อนี้ทั้งในหนังสือ “ประวัติศาสตร์ฉบับย่อของลัทธิเสรีนิยมใหม่” และ “คำแถลงการณ์เสรีนิยมที่มีการกำกับแห่งปี ค.ศ. 1936” (The Ordo Manifesto of 1936) โดยละเอียด ทั้งนี้ความคลาดเคลื่อนดังกล่าวสะท้อนให้เห็นว่าข้อเสนอ “เสรีนิยมที่มีการกำกับ” ได้ขาดหายไปจากการถกเถียงระหว่างฝ่ายซ้ายและสำนักเศรษฐศาสตร์นีโอคลาสสิคในประเทศไทย นอกจากนี้บทความนี้ยังจะสำรวจทั้งความหลากหลายและพลวัตในการเปลี่ยนแปลงของทุนนิยมในแต่ละประเทศดังที่ได้เสนอไว้ในหนังสือ “เฉดต่าง ๆ ของระบบทุนนิยม” (Varities of Capitalism) โดยหวังว่าข้อเสนอดังกล่าวจะเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นในกำหนดนโยบายเศรษฐกิจที่สร้างดุลยภาพระหว่างประสิทธิภาพทางเศรษฐกิจจากการกำกับการผูกขาดและการบรรเทาความเหลื่อมล้ำในสังคม
