The Effect of Learning Method Based on Carl Orff’s Concepts on the Learning Outcomes in Playing the Recorder of Grade 7 Students

Abstract

This research aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) to compare the learning outcomes in playing the recorder of Grade 7 students at Koh Samui School before and after learning, based on Carl Orff's concepts, and 2) to study the satisfaction of Grade 7 students at Koh Samui School regarding the learning activities related to playing the recorder according to Carl Orff's approach. The population consists of 207 Grade 7 students during the first semester of the academic year 2024 at Koh Samui School. The sample group includes 35 students from Class 1/6, selected through cluster random sampling by drawing lots. The research instruments include a lesson plan, an assessment of the appropriateness of the lesson plan, a theoretical test, an evaluation of recorder playing skills, and an assessment of student satisfaction with the learning activities according to Carl Orff's concepts. The statistical methods used include mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The research findings indicate that:

1) The learning outcomes in playing the recorder of Grade 7 students based on Carl Orff's concepts after instruction were significantly higher than before instruction at the .01 level. 2) The overall satisfaction of Grade 7 students at Koh Samui School regarding the learning activities related to playing the recorder according to Carl Orff's concepts was at a very high level.
