The Development of Web-Based Instruction in English for Communication for Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University Students

Abstract
The objectives of this study were 1) to develop web-based instruction in English for communication based on the 80/80 standard, 2) to compare students’ learning achievement between pre-test and post-test with learning through web-based instruction in English for communication, and 3) to explore students’ opinions toward learning English for communication through web-based instruction. This study was a quasi-experiment which was one group pre-test and post-test design. The population was 108 full-time freshmen and second year students. The freshmen were 9 students in Production Engineering, 53 students in Social Studies, a student in Computer Science, and the second year of 45 students in General Science. They enrolled in English for Communication course in semester 2 of the academic year 2021. The samples were 30 students who were selected by using random sampling (lottery technique). The research instruments consisted of web-based instruction in English for communication, pre-test and post-test, lesson plans, and a questionnaire. The statistics used to analyze the data were arithmetic means, standard deviation, and dependent t-test.
The findings of this study were as follows: 1) the efficiency of the web-based instruction in English for communication was 81.39/82.50 which met the criteria 80/80 standard. 2) the comparison of students’ learning achievement by using the web-based instruction in English for communication was higher than the pre-test score which was highly significant different at .05, and 3) the students had good opinions toward learning through the web-based instruction in English for communication ( =4.31, S.D=0.56)
