Factors Affecting Learning Responsibility of Junior High School Students, Under the Secondary Education Service Area Office 25
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aims of this study include 1) to study the level of factors that affect students’ learning responsibility, 2) to examine the relation between each factor affecting learning responsibility, 3) to study factors affecting learning responsibility, and 4) to create predicting equation of factors affecting junior high school students’ learning responsibility under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25. The participants were 411 junior high school students studying in the 2nd semester, academic year 2019, under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25, chosen with Multi-Stage Random Sampling method. The research tools were as the following: 1) Achievement Motivation Test, 2) Self-Discipline Test, 3) Learning Behavior Test, 4) Parenting Test, 5) Parental Support in Learning Test, 6) Family Relationship Between Students and Parents Test, 7) Physical Characteristics in Learning Test, 8) Relationship Between Students and Their Classmates Test, 9) Relationship Between Students and Their Teachers Test, and 10) Learning Responsibility Test, Construct Validity (IOC) between .60 -.1.00, Discrimination between .222 -.879, Reliability between .708 - .897, with the content validity .751 .803 .889 .617 .820 .834 .562 .760 .743 and .918 respectively. Mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise Multiple Linear Regression were used in the analysis. Research Results: The level of factors that affect learning responsibility of junior high school students under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25 was at high ( X= 3.6, S.D. = .44) and Learning Responsibility (Y ) was high ( X=3.51, S.D.= .49). For the relation between each factor affecting learning responsibility, the predictor variables had positive relation with learning responsibility of junior high school students under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25, having Product Moment Correlation Coefficient of .400 to .807, with statistical significance of .01. The factors affecting junior high school students’ learning responsibility under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25 had 6 predictor variables involving in predicting learning responsibility. From highest to lowest values were: Family Relationship Between Students and Parents (X6 ), Parenting (X4 ), Learning Behavior (X3), Physical Characteristics in Learning (X7), Relationship Between Students and Their Teachers (X9 ), and finally the least effective predictor variable, Relationship Between Students and Their Classmates (X8 ), with Beta value of .518 .497 .261 -.236 -.230 .223 respectively. The success rate of prediction of junior high school students’ learning responsibility under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25 was 83.40 percent, and the standard error of the prediction (SEest ) was .203. The predicting equation of factors affecting junior high school students’ learning responsibility under The Secondary Education Service Area Office 25 for raw score and standard score were as follows:
Y' = .365 + .224 X3 + .446 X4+ .440 X6 - .203X7 + .201X8 - .205X9
Z' = .261Zx3 + .497Zx4 + .518Zx6 - .236Zx7 + .223Zx8 - .230 Zx9
