Development of Participation in Health Promotion of Students at Ban Khaofhachee School under Ranong Primary Educational Service Area Office

Abstract
The objectives of this study were 1) to study the states and problems of participation in health promotion of students at Ban Khaofhachee School under Ranong Primary Educational Service Area Office, 2) to develop the participation of teachers in health promotion of students at Ban Khaofhachee School under Ranong Primary Educational Service Area Office, and 3) to assess the health behaviors of students at Ban Khaofhachee School under Ranong Primary Educational Service Area Office. The target group of the study included 10 teachers and 93 Prathomsuksa I - VI students of Ban Khaofhachee School in academic year 2019. The research procedure consisted of four steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection, which were divided into two cycles. The research instruments of the study were a questionnaire, a workshop manual, an assessment form of student health behaviors, an observation form of teacher participation, a teacher’s follow-up form in organizing health promotion activities, and a form of focus group discussion.
The research findings revealed as follows. 1) The states and problems of the participation in health promotion of students showed that the school offered activities promoting good physical and mental health, good habits, and love of exercises according to policies given by the school. However, the activities were not consistently held and lacked the participation from teachers in regard to decision making, operation, receiving benefits, evaluation, and organization of health promotion activities for the students. Moreover, the budget given by school for organizing health promotion activities was relatively limited. 2) The development of the participation of the teachers in health promotion of the students showed that the teachers gained knowledge about the participation in health promotion activities of the students and together participated in creating health promotion activities for the students, which consisted of six activities: Little FDA, Good Environment in School, Eat Well and Be Happy, Happy Exercise, Beautiful Teeth Clear Smile, and Health Check Up. The assessment of the development of participation of the teachers in health promotion of the students showed that the average score of the participation of the teachers after the development was higher than the average score before the development. 3) The assessment of health behaviors of the students showed that the health behaviors after organizing health promotion activities were at a very high level, which the average score after organizing the activities was higher than the average score before organizing the activities.
