Needs of Internal Supervision of School Administrators Yala Primary Educational Service Area Office 3

Abstract

The objectives of this independent study were: 1) to investigate the current and desirable conditions of internal supervision by school administrators; 2) to examine the needs for internal supervision by school administrators; and 3) to compile recommendations regarding internal supervision by school administrators under the Yala Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. Data were collected using questionnaires from a sample of 227 teachers and educational personnel, selected through simple random sampling. Statistical analysis included mean, standard deviation, modified Priority Needs Index (PNI modified), and content analysis. The research findings revealed that:

             1) the current condition of internal supervision by school administrators under the Yala Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 was rated at a high level overall, while the desirable condition was rated at the highest level overall; 2) the needs for developing an internal supervision model for school administrators were identified in all aspects, ranked by PNI modified as follows: performance (PNI modified = 0.050), providing knowledge of what to do (PNI modified = 0.048), planning for supervision (PNI modified = 0.039), morale building (PNI modified = 0.036), and evaluating work outcomes (PNI modified = 0.031); and 3) recommendations regarding internal supervision included: for the internal supervision process, 1) planning for supervision, 2) providing knowledge of what to do, 3) performance, 4) morale building, and 5) evaluating work outcomes; and for the principles of internal supervision, 1) leadership, 2) collaboration, 3) empathy, and 4) creativity.
