Abstract

This academic article aims to synthesize concepts, theories, and related studies concerning household saving behavior at the community level. It integrates the Life-Cycle Hypothesis (LCH) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to explain household saving behavior and propose saving promotion approaches that are consistent with the context of Phromchit Community, Khlongdan Subdistrict, Bangbo District, Samutprakan Province. The study employs documentary research and conceptual analysis through the synthesis of knowledge from books, textbooks, academic articles, research studies, and reports from relevant organizations. The synthesis indicates that household saving behavior is influenced by economic structural factors, behavioral factors, and community social capital. Income, life-cycle planning, attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and financial literacy play significant roles in household saving decisions. In addition, support from families, communities, and local financial institutions contributes to strengthening saving discipline and continuity. This article suggests that saving promotion should adopt an integrated approach encompassing economic, behavioral, and social capital dimensions to enhance household financial security and community resilience. The findings may serve as a guideline for developing saving promotion measures that are appropriate to community contexts.
