The objectives of this study were to 1) analyze and design, 2) develop, and 3) evaluate the quality of a multimedia on “Smoking Myths.” This study employed an evaluative research approach using both quantitative and qualitative data. The informants were five experts in content and multimedia, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of 1) the multimedia presentation entitled “Smoking Myths” and 2) an expert evaluation form consisting of 5-point Likert-scale items and open-ended questions. The evaluation form was examined for content validity, with an Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) index ranging from 0.67 to 1.00. Data were analyzed using content analysis, mean, and standard deviation.
The findings revealed that 1) in the analysis and design stage, the target audience was defined as youth and working-age people, and the media was designed as a 2D animation with a total duration of 3.47 minutes, structured into three parts: introduction, main content, and conclusion; 2) in the development stage, the completed multimedia included text, still images, animation, narration, and sound effects, and preliminary testing led to revisions in spelling, audio level, image smoothness, and presentation timing before expert evaluation; and 3) in the quality evaluation stage, the overall quality of the multimedia was at the highest level (Mean = 4.57, S.D. = 0.50). Content, audio and language, and still images were rated at the highest level, while information presentation, animation, and text were rated at a high level. Qualitative findings indicated that the strengths of the media were content accuracy, clarity of communication, simple language use, and the consistency between visuals and narration.
