A Study of User Behavior on the Needs for InformationResourcesat the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology (ARIT), Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University

Abstract

           This article presented the behavior of the serviceusers on the needsfor information resources at theOffice of Academic Resources and Information Technology, KanchanaburiRajabhat University. The objectives of this study were 1) to study the behavior of the serviceusers in using information resources at theOffice of Academic Resources and Information Technology, Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University, and 2) to study the needs and problems of using information resources in this office. The sample group consisted of 250 users, selected by purposive sampling method. The research was conducted between January andMarch 2020. The statistics employed for data analysis were mean and standard deviation.

          The results of this study revealed that most of the serviceusers were students of the Faculty of Education. They visited the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology 1-2 times a week to findinformation for their study and report and for their research. The service users’ need for books and textbooks was at the highest level, followed by research reports/thesis/independent study. They sought information on their own and used assisted search services by asking advice from librarians. The problems related to obsolete information resourceswas at a moderate level. There were also the problems about slow internet and computer system.
