Abstract

Silk Road or Silk Route is a network of trade routes that span across Asia and Europe collectively known as Eurasia. The Silk Road was not only a trade route it is also a route for the transmission of culture, religion and technology. The Silk Road can be classified into 3 eras: (1) the Silk Road Before History which evolved from animal pathways to the Eurasian Steppe Paths, Trade Routes of the Eurasian Nomads and has evolved into the Silk Road (2) the 4 Historical Silk  Routes, namely Northern Silk Road from Changan or Chiangan to Parthia, Bacteria, Persia and Rome, the Southern Silk Road from Chang'an to Afghanistan and to connect with the Northern Silk Road in Turkmenistan, Southwestern Silk Road from Ya'an it ended in Dali in Yunnan Province  and the two Maritime Silk Roads, the eastern route. from China to the Korean Peninsula and Japan and southern route from China to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf (3) the New Silk Road or "One Belt, One Road", or as China calls it “Belt and Road Initiative.” It consists of six land routes: (1) New Eurasian Land Bridge Economic Corridor; (2) China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor; (3) China-Central Asia-West Asia Economic Corridor; (4) China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor. (5) Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor and (6) China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
