Managing Multigenerational Divides in Organizations

This academic paper aimed to conduct a detailed study of managing multigenerational divides in organizations. A non-systematic literature review method was applied in this study. A review of literatures related to the managing multigenerational divides in organizations was conducted and data extraction was performed and used as a basis for composing this article. The concepts of generation, categorization of generation and specific characteristics of each generation, and guidelines for managing multigenerational divides in organizations were reviewed. The reviewed data was synthesized as a set of knowledge derived from this study as a step-by-step procedure for managing multigenerational divides in organizations. The process comprised three steps as follows: (1) conduct a review of literature related to the concepts of generation to have clear understanding and used as a basis for further study; (2) conduct a review of literature related to the categorization of generation and specific characteristics of each generation to have a clear understanding of how generations were categorized and the specific characteristics of each generation to be used as a basis for managing multigenerational divides in organizations; (3) conduct a review of literature related to the guidelines for managing multigenerational divides in organizations and applied in decision making in managing multigenerational divides in organizations that would lead to the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization.
