The Situation of Morality in Thai Society: Trends, Analysis and Mechanisms for Integrated Moral Development

Abstract

The article presents information on the state of morality in Thai society, categorized into six social networks. It compiles data, news, and various social phenomena occurring between 2023 and 2024 (B.E. 2566-2567), and verifies the quality and accuracy of the information through discussions with academics, experts, and representatives from the social networks. The findings were presented at regional moral assemblies throughout 2024 (B.E. 2567) to analyze social phenomena from a moral perspective. The study results highlight: 1) The government network implied an integrity and transparency assessment (ITA) system together with digital governance; 2) The private business sector emphasized ESG initiatives to foster transparency and social responsibility; 3) The education sector focused on moral development for students through moral projects, reducing educational disparities, and promoting safe school environments; 4) The religious sector developed preachers whose teachings align with real-life application to reduce the spread of distorted beliefs; 5) The civil society and community network addressed public issues and promotes morality through community-based efforts and the embedding of good cultural values through families; and 6) The media network faced challenges while adapting, especially online media, but also maintain professional ethics and strengthen media literacy or media awareness.
