Developing the Emergency Medical Service Potential of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park: A Case Study of Medical Personnel Shortage

Abstract

This research article addresses two key questions: First, is the emergency medical service capacity of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park sufficient to effectively care for the local population and tourists in the area? Second, what should be the guidelines for determining the positions of medical personnel in the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation? The park plays a crucial role in conserving natural resources and providing assistance in emergency situations, but its emergency medical capabilities have not yet been fully developed. Qualitative research was used as the main method, with in-depth interviews conducted with three key target groups: local residents, government officials, and private operators both inside and outside the park. The findings reveal that the shortage of medical personnel in forest areas remains a significant challenge. The study recommends establishing clear guidelines for the allocation of personnel and continuously improving the capacity of the emergency medical system.
