The Development of an Oral Expression of Opinion Program Using Local Literature for Grade 5 Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop an oral expression of opinion skill development program using local literature; and 2) to enhance the oral expression of opinion skills of Grade 5 students participating in the program to meet the 80% proficiency criterion. The sample, selected through purposive sampling, consisted of 22 students from Grade 5/1 at Sunthornwattana School, Chaiyaphum Province. The research instruments included: 1) the oral expression of opinion skill development program using local literature; 2) a quality assessment form for the developed program; and 3) an oral skill assessment form. Data were analyzed using percentage and  mean.  The research findings revealed that: 1) the overall quality of the oral expression of opinion skill development program using local literature was appropriate at the highest level  ( = 4.73) ; and 2) regarding the development of oral expression of opinion skills among Grade 5 students using local literature, the sample passed the oral skill assessment with a score of 85.59%, which exceeded the established criterion.
