Abstract

The history of university-community relations has seen periods of optimism and innovative actions followed. The Rajabhat University Act of 2004 establishes Rajabhat University as an institution of higher education for local development. Therefore, the mission of Rajabhat University focuses on local development, integrating education for sustainable development in economic, social, and environmental aspects. This article aims to present the concept of Rajabhat University's role and being a university for local development. This study synthesized relevant literature and research, analyzing the data with content analysis. The study found that; An important component of the university for the locality. (1) Education and knowledge building. (2) Local service. (3) Associations with organizations and communities. (4) Promotion of community strength. (5) Support for innovation and development. However, the important factors related to being a local university were; (1) Local Responsibility. (2) Creating and sharing knowledge. (3) Building capacity and skills. (4) Cooperation with organizations and communities. (5) Support for research and innovation. (6) Support for lifelong learning. (7) Support for local resource development. (8) Support for community organizations. (9) Presentation and communication capacity-building support. (10). encouraging understanding and participation.
