Abstract

This research aimed to (1) examine the creative thinking skills of undergraduate students at Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University, and (2) compare the creative thinking skills of undergraduate students at Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University. A quantitative research method was employed. The sample consisted of 364 undergraduate students, determined using the Krejcie and Morgan table. The research instrument was the Test for Creative Thinking – Drawing Production (TCT-DP). Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, percentage, and non-parametric statistics.

The findings revealed that (1) the overall creative thinking skills of the students were at a moderate level, with a mean score of 44.44 out of a total of 72 points, and (2) the comparison of creative thinking skills in relation to personal characteristics indicated that female students demonstrated significantly greater ideational fluency than male students. No statistically significant differences were found with respect to age or year of study. Regarding faculty affiliation, although no statistically significant differences were observed, students from the Faculty of Education and Human Development tended to score higher across several dimensions.

Overall, the findings suggest that creative thinking skills are not strongly determined by learners' background factors such as age or faculty affiliation; however, gender showed some variation in certain skills. The researchers propose that learning activity formats experienced by learners may be a factor worth further investigation. Nevertheless, since this variable was not directly measured in the present study, additional research is needed to confirm this relationship.
