Abstract
The purposes of this research were to investigate and compare the conceptual understanding of weather through Phenomenon-Based Learning (PhBL). The participants in this study were 39 Grade 7 students from a large secondary school under the Nong Khai Secondary Educational Service Area Office, during the second semester of the 2024 academic year. A one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed. The research instruments consisted of: 1) Four Phenomenon-Based Learning lesson plans on the weather. 2) Conceptual understanding test on weather. Data were analyzed using frequency, mean, percentage, and standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested using the t-test for Dependent Samples and McNemar's Chi-Square test. The results revealed that:
- Students’ conceptual understanding of weather after learning (= 25.00, equivalent to 83.33%) was higher than before learning (= 7.62, equivalent to 25.40%).
- Students’ conceptual understanding changed from being inconsistent with scientific concepts to being consistent with scientific concepts at a higher rate than the reverse.
