Abstract

This research aims to study the impact of oral reading on reading comprehension among high school students. The sample used in the study consists of 60 high school seniors, divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received systematic oral reading training, while the control group used the regular silent reading method.
The research instruments include a reading comprehension test, an observation of reading behavior, and a questionnaire on students' opinions about reading aloud. Data analysis used basic statistics such as mean, standard deviation, and t-test to compare the performance of both groups.
The research findings indicate that students who practiced reading aloud had significantly higher reading comprehension levels than those who used silent reading methods. Additionally, the experimental group reported that reading aloud helped them remember the content better, concentrate more, and effectively grasp the main ideas of the reading passages.

From the research findings, it has been shown that reading aloud is a beneficial strategy for developing reading comprehension among secondary school students. Therefore, this technique should be promoted in language teaching to further enhance students' reading proficiency.
