Protecting Culture from The Assimilation of Foreign Languages

Abstract

The assimilation of foreign languages is a challenge to preserving the national cultural identity. Language is a crucial component of identity and serves as a medium for transmitting culture. This article analyzes the impact of the increasing use of foreign languages in Thai society and proposes ways to protect culture from language assimilation by utilizing linguistic, sociological, and state policy concepts.
