The research employs qualitative research methods, including descriptive analysis from data collected from sample group interviews. The findings reveal that:
Ban Pha Chor, situated in the jurisdiction of the Mae Sook Sub-district Administrative Organization, Chae Hom District, Lampang Province, lies within a reserved forest area. The community’s forest covers an area of 600 rai and is rich in natural resources, including water sources and diverse fauna such as birds and insects. The forest is lush and abundant, divided into two categories: community forest and utility forest. A forest management committee oversees the maintenance and protection of the community forest’s tranquility. The community of Ban Pha Chor is deeply rooted in Buddhist beliefs, which significantly influence forest management practices, as evidenced by forest ordination ceremonies, among other practices. Moreover, the community engages in social activities related to resource utilization.
The analysis of Buddhist principles for community environmental conservation in Ban Pha Chor, Lampang Province, reveals that there are numerous teachings related to nature and environmental preservation within Buddhist doctrine. Buddhism considers nature as inherent and emphasizes that everything in this world is a natural creation discovered by the Buddha himself. These teachings are shared to foster understanding and conscious coexistence with nature, recognizing their intrinsic value and impermanence. The core principles of the Sangahavathu 4 are taught to support and bind individuals’ hearts and minds, promoting a harmonious relationship. Moreover, the teachings highlight the importance of water sources and the Four Noble Truths in upholding truth for the preservation of nature.
