Abstract

This research aimed to compare students' learning achievement before and after the implementation of the flipped classroom approach in the course Psychology for Teachers. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 21 second-year students in the Psychology and Guidance program, Bachelor of Education curriculum, Faculty of Education, Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University, who were enrolled in the Psychology for Teachers course in the first semester of the 2024 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments comprised a student general information questionnaire, lesson plans for the Psychology for Teachers course with a content validity index of 0.80, and an achievement test for the Psychology for Teachers course consisting of 24 four-choice multiple-choice items with a reliability coefficient of 0.88. The statistics used for data analysis included frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.

The results revealed that students' mean learning achievement scores after instruction (M = 20.52, S.D. = 2.32) were significantly higher than before instruction (M = 17.38, S.D. = 4.58) at the .05 level of statistical significance (Z = −2.90, p = .004), with an effect size of 0.63, which is considered relatively large.
