The Role of Khru Ba Aphichai Khaopi in Spreading Buddhism

Abstract

This research article has 2 objectives: 1. to study the history and conduct of Khru Ba Aphichai Khaopi and 2. to analyze the role of Khru Ba Aphichai Khaopi in spreading Buddhism. This is a qualitative research. The research results are as follows: Khru Ba Aphichai Khaopi is a monk who is knowledgeable in both the scriptures and the meditation, has knowledge, wisdom, intelligence, experience, and determination. He has performed the role of a good Buddhist disciple, performed the role of serving the Sangha with order, was extremely grateful to his parents and teachers, loved and honored the nation, religion, and monarchy with excellence, was full of virtue, had an admirable personality, and presented simple and familiar Dharma. Khru Ba Aphichai Khaopi used various methods and techniques to spread Buddhism effectively, which had 2 factors leading to success: internal factors: Khru Ba Aphichai Khaopi was a grateful person, was grateful to his parents, was grateful to his teachers, was grateful to Buddhism, was kind, and was a giver. And external factors, namely being a person with good conduct and personality, lead to the faith of Buddhists, resulting in the success of the propagation of Buddhism and making Buddhism flourish in Lanna forever.
